Version detection
Choose whether Intune checks the installed version or only the bundle ID to decide if a macOS app is installed.
For PKG and DMG apps, Intune checks the app's bundle ID and, by default, its version: it installs the app when it is missing or when the installed version doesn't match the version in Intune. An app that updated itself to a newer version therefore no longer matches.
Intune's Ignore app version setting makes Intune check only the bundle ID. Apps that update themselves, such as browsers, are good candidates.
Set it with PowerShell
- Requires version 1.1.0.
- Without the parameter, an existing app keeps its current setting.
-IgnoreVersionDetection:$falseturns version checking back on.- IntuneBrew still compares catalog versions as usual, so the installer in Intune stays current for new installations.
Not the same as -IgnoreAppVersion
-IgnoreAppVersion tells IntuneBrew never to update apps that are already in Intune. Don't combine the two when you want Intune to keep a current installer.
